Default Sunno HDi - any support?

Hi guys. After literally a year of wandering around chinese forums, I've now come here. I have a Sunno HDi with 6.5 ROM, but zero support from the manufacturer. I would very much like to try out the newer builds, but have had no luck finding a kitchen that would support the decompilation of the original ROM, and adding the new stuff in.

Would it be possible to get some help around here? Thanks a lot!!

Ahhh yes. I've been writing in that thread for many months now. The thread that got me to this forum was this one.

The Ciphone is another cloned Chinese phone, and it was possible to create a ROM for that. I found a kitchen for the Sunno in a chinese forum, but when I decompile the original ROM, I don't get the XIP portion. I have a feeling that might be the biggest hurdle. If I knew how the Ciphone ROM was pulled apart, I might be able to take apart the Sunno one.

Believe me, I have heard countless times that no help can be provided for the Sunno. What I don't get is that the phone is a Windows Mobile phone. So regardless of its origin, it should follow some of the same coding as the HTC phones. I don't mind putting in the work - I just need a super dev to point me in the right direction, and give a little bit of help.

By the way, the authors of Ervius' kitchen, and osKitchen have also given the same answer as above.

That's not a bug--It's a feature!

The problem isn't so much with the format of the rom and how it is stored on the device--it is with the spl of the device and how it is updated. HTC devices are relatively easy to work on because of the format of the updates to the device. If you had the means to buy an extra device or two for testing purposes and provided it to one of the SPL gurus in the community like cmonex or Oli if they had time, they might be able to figure something out, but I'm not sure if they have worked on SPL for non-HTC devices or if they would have the time/desire.

Now this is very interesting. Its the first time that SPL has come up in this topic. In every other place where I have asked this question, people have said that the problem is not having the correct xip.bin. Kinda confuses me a little, I guess. I suppose I need to go back and learn the fundamentals. I was assuming that I could somehow

- decompile the existing ROM file I have
- replace the old OS with the new OS builds out there
- recompile and download

I tried doing that as a test, but when the phone boots up, I get nothing but a blank screen after the splash screen. Maybe its time to give up.
