PPCk-BuildOS v2.0.0 Beta

Looks like it is stable enough for some of the more adventurous and technically capable users to give it a try.

http://ppckitchen.org/Downloads/DevFiles.Unsupported/BuildOS_2.0.0.0.git.rar

Once downloaded, unpack to the directory of your choice and run the .exe in the BuildOS folder. Shortcuts will be created as part of the initial upate, which you may use in the future to launch ppck-buildos.

If you did not understand the instructions just provided, this Beta is NOT for you.

Projects built in older versions should still build if oem packages are available, but your mileage may vary. Do not ask for help loading old projects - embrace the future.

Do NOT modify anything under the Modules directory. Any such changes may be lost during updates or cause updates to fail.

Things to be aware of:
1) Missed RGU detected. If you get this error, be sure to post your log to pastebin (there is a button to do this on the log form)
2) There are no languages other than 0409 available, even though more are listed
3) The build order may be modified to enforce dependency order when a known dependency exists, even across major directories.
4) The first build after each start of buildos will be slow due to checking for package updates. This will be fixed in a future build.
5) The libraries are the most current available.
6) You will get a "USER_OEM failed to update" error. This can safely be ignored for now.

There are likely to be more bugs...please let us know what you run into!

Update availability notification was disabled in the original build distributed.

The current build has it enabled, but user changes which conflict (same file changed/created) will cause application of an update to fail.

To apply the current build, extract the .rar on top of your prior extraction.

Hey Firestorm!! It is so worth the wait though. The beta version is amazing. Just need to tweak and adjust it a bit. You will be blown away!

yeah i dont doubt that... i DID download it when it first poped up, but the next day i ended up having to reformat (old MSDN key issue)... and poof it got lost... (i had prepared to reformat anyway the day before... but it timebombed before i was totally ready... too lazy to HDD caddy it...)

breaks are fun!

Sorry, had some matters to tend to. The build was taken down because we ran across a problem involving certain user modifications and the upgrade mechanism. The good news is that it looks to be a bug in one of the tools, and not a design flaw. The bad news is that the tool is not easy to debug.

The link on the main page got me excited, but it appears it's still disabled and being debugged, right?

I can't wait to see what's in store :)
